With every project claiming to be the next great hope of Crypto, we often find ourselves been let down or in extreme cases feeling used and abused. Then we discover project that restores our faith again!
With Apollo Currency, comes everything you’d want in a cryptocurrency, true Privacy, IP masking, Decentralized Exchanges, coin mixing etc… Indeed, Forbes.com recently called Apollo (APL) “the most feature-rich privacy-centric cryptocurrency around” It is bursting with features. The Apollo community, backed by the Apollo Foundation, has set out to accomplish the goal of making Apollo the most technologically advanced, feature-rich currency on the market.
Now one thing about the cryptocurrency space, is it’s very good at over hyping and over selling pretty ordinary projects which makes it sometimes difficult to really gauge a coin or token. Let me tell you this is not the case with APL. Apollo currency is the quintessential diamond in the rough.
So lets get right into it and see what makes Apollo so different.
Apollo was originally a fork of the NXT platform which gives importance to privacy and control over one’s data. Apollo is aiming to take privacy to the next level and state they are the All-In-One cryptocurrency. Apollo never did an ICO, unlike most other cryptocurrency companies, instead it conducted a Coin Distribution Event (CDE), distributing to NXT holders at the time.
The event was not set up with the goal of raising money for a project that had not been started. The only goal of the coin distribution event was to distribute Apollo into as many hands as possible, as quickly as possible.
Apollo is still very much in active development, with consistent updates and almost daily announcements on their YouTube channel.
Apollo markets itself as, The World’s Fastest, Most Private Coin and as stated earlier , the Apollo Foundation combines many features of existing coins in one powerful ecosystem:
- Low transaction fees
- Fast transcation time (2 seconds)
- Smart Contracts (with Hermes 4.0)
- Coin Staking (forging as passive income)
- Coin Shuffling
- IP Masking
- Encrypted messages & transactions
- Coin Mixing
- Private Ledger
- Voting System
- Decentralized File Storage and Marketplace
- Asset System
- Monetary System (currency is obviously backed by apollo, giving it, an instant tangible value.)
- Multi-signature Accounts
- Multi-platform Wallets: Web, Desktop, Tor and Mobile
So if you guys weren’t already aware John McAfee has recently been appointed chairman of the project and I know some people have mixed feelings with regards to Mr McAfee, but he really knows how to bring attention and awareness to a project.
The team has a very experienced, high-profile team, with tons of experience in development, management, and marketing. Indeed, from their website it appears they are expanding as they are currently hiring. This is a very positive point I feel, as lots of projects are laying people off at the moment.
To get a sense of how ambitious this project is, we need to compare it to other similar projects in the space:
As you can see, they really are aiming to be the all in one currency!
One of the core elements to the project is the wallet.. This is not your ordinary run of the mill wallet. It is a work of art! Aesthetically, it looks beautiful, its nice and clean, and packed with features.
Its currently available on Android, Linux, Web, Mac and Windows with an IOS version currently in development. One of the things to look out for soon, is the integration of their decentralized exchange into the wallet interface. This will be a massive step forward, allowing users to basically do everything straight from the wallet.
Apollo currency has been pre-mined and relies on proof-of-stake as a consensus mechanism. New coins can be “forged” by APL holders via the wallet software.
Apollo certainly promises a lot, but I really think this is a great project with huge potential, they have been consistently hitting all their targets according and in some cases completing milestones before their due date.
If you want to learn more about this project, check out their website: and head over to their Telegram group: They have an amazing community, they are super active, extremely knowledgeable and particularly forward thinking. I highly recommend you go and check them out. Success depends on a lot of factors, but from what I have seen with Apollo, they are well on the road to been a success.
